Included in the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville metropolitan area, Goose Creek is a city in Berkeley County in South Carolina. The city is bordered in the east by Cooper River and Charleston City in the southeast. Located not far away from the cities of Hannah and North Charleston, Goose Creek has a total area of 40.1 square miles and about 35938 citizens call this city home.

The city was officially established in 1961, however, it does not mean it is void of history. The city gets its name from the Goose Creek Men who held important positions in the colonial government of Charleston in the 17th century. Goose Creek is an important military town. Most of the Naval Weapons Station Charleston is located in Goose Creek. The town played an important role in the Naval warfare during the Cold War.

Goose Creek is a vibrant and outgoing town, with plenty of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike. Fun activities like Easter Rock Hunt and Giant Yard Sale, give the town its unique charm. The many pools and tennis courts in the city allow you to enjoy the sports. You can also access swimming and tennis lessons. Water fitness classes and pool parties are fun for the whole family.

The city has no shortage of parks. Parks like Dennis Park, Dogwood Park, Elting Park, Eubanks Parks and many others offer opportunities to access basketball courts, football fields, playgrounds, covered picnic areas, grills, parking and hiking trails as well as boating and fishing. The town is also home to some really well-performing primary and high schools. Goose Creek High School and Stratford High School offer quality education to the town kids.

With 214 sunny days a year on average, Goose Creek is perfect for outdoor activities. The temperature in July can go as high as 91 degrees and as low as 36 in the winters. The city gets around 48 inches of rain every year. A durable heat pump in the house can make winters comfortable for the residents. However, to make the most of summers, the residents do need a dependable air conditioner, as the temperature indoors does get a little too hot for comfort.
