About James Island, SC - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Part of the Charleston-North Charleston –Summerville metropolitan area, James Island is a bustling town in Charleston County in South Carolina. Proudly sitting between Charleston Harbor and Stono and Folly Rivers, James Island is one of the most urban se islands with about 33,781 people calling the island their home.
The semi-rural area of James Islands has a long and interesting history, just like its surrounding Charleston cities. The last known armed action against the British Army was carried out in the James Island. The site of the first shot of the Civil War-Fort Johnson as well as McLeod Plantation is among the historic sites and landmarks in the city. The city has only been incorporated officially in 2012. It has been thriving and growing since.
The history is everywhere on the island. The remains of Ft. Lamar as well as the recently renovated Seashore Farmer’s Lodge attract the attention of residents as well as the visitors. Fort Pemberton, Lighthouse Point Shell Ring, Marshlands Plantation House etc are among the places listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition to historical places, several parks, rivers and creeks offer plenty of recreational activities for the visitors.
Golf courses, playgrounds, biking and walking trails, canoeing and kayaking opportunities as well as restaurants make this town a perfect residential and tourism destination. The island is easy to access as the Charleston International Airport is only 12 miles away from the city. The island is a cultural and artistic hub with people like Stephen Colbert- the great satirist and television host- calling the island their home.
James Island is perfect for enjoying the great South Carolina outdoors. The temperature in July can go as high as 89 degrees. With 211 sunny days, the city gets around 46 inches of rain every year. The temperature in winter is usually pleasant. However, to make the most of summers, the residents do need a dependable air conditioner, as the temperature indoors does get a little too hot and humid for comfort.
